N.O.W Model
| The N.O.W. model is based on the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. It lifts up the importance of nurturing chruch members to become faithful disciples that God is calling them to be. It stresses the importance of reaching out with acts of compassion to persons in need, plus advocating on behalf of justice and righteousness. It proclaims the importance of sharing the Christian faith through word and deed with those who have no faith. It stresses the importance of being good stewards of God's word. * |

Heritage Church has adopted the N.O.W. model and implemented ministry teams for Nurture, Outreach and Witness.

METHODIST TRADITION
|
Methodist is a worldwide Protestant movement dating from 1729, when a group of students at the University of Oxford, England, began to assemble for worship, study, and Christian service. Among this group was John Wesley, considered the founder of Methodism.
Preaching the doctrines of Christian perfection and personal salvation through faith, John Wesley quickly won an enthusiastic following among the English working classes.
Irish and English emigrants brought Methodism to the U.S. before the American Revolution.
Methodism advanced westward with the frontier. During the early 19th century, Methodism's stress on personal religious experience, univeersal salvation, and practical ethics attracted converts in large numbers.
The United Methodist Church believes in two sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion. All people, regardless of age, gender or affiliation may particpate in these sacred acts.
Baptism is a public act of infant dedication or adult witness of faith.
Holy Communion (Eucharist) is observed monthly, and on special sacred holidays.

CHURCH HISTORY
| On July 1, 2003, Sunrise Mountain and First UMCs merged to form Heritage United Methodist Church. The name was chosen to represent all we bring from the two former congregations into this new one. Together, we will use our combined legacies to form a grand future for God's work and glory here in the Las Vegas community! Join us to be part of this history in the making! |
